At the workplace:
What’s been your biggest achievement or most rewarding experience while working at The Barnett Group?
I consult our clients on a number of complicated issues, from technology and software solutions to COBRA. The most rewarding feeling is helping a client resolve an issue and receiving an email from them saying, “You are awesome!”, “You are the best!” or “I truly appreciate your efforts!”
What advice would you give to a young professional entering your field?
Insurance is a way of preparing for the “what ifs” in life. It’s like needing a Band-Aid for a cut. You never know when you’ll need it, but it’s better to have that Band-Aid just in case.
What’s the best advice someone has ever given you?
“What you say matters less than what people hear and understand.” I always try to focus on helping clients understand something rather than just telling it to them.
Who’s your favorite sports team?
I graduated from Mississippi State, so I love my Bulldogs! When it comes to NFL, I’m a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. And you can’t live in Memphis without rooting for the Grizzlies!
How do you unwind after a high-powered day at the office?
I have two children… I mean dogs! After work, I love to take them on a walk around the neighborhood and take in the scenery. We also walk in the morning. It’s a great way to start AND end my day!
What’s your favorite late-night snack?
I’m a food junkie so there’s no such thing as a late-night snack. I mean, that’s why there’s a light in the fridge, right? It’s another completely normal time to be hungry! I love sweets, chocolate, donuts, ice cream, I could go on. I’m always craving those after dinner.
