Founded in 1987, The Barnett Group has evolved from a simple life insurance agency to one of the largest employee benefits and financial services firms in the area. The firm’s dedicated team designs, implements and administers benefits for small and large companies and individuals, including 1,100 physician clients, municipalities and private organizations.
The Barnett Group’s clients reap the benefits of a company whose philosophy is not based solely upon one product offering. Instead, the integration of diversified health plans and financial services, coupled with strong relationships with insurance carriers and third-party providers, afford clients the best benefit options at the best rates available. Both entities boast affiliations with more than 80 insurance carriers and third-party administrators, serving more than 75,000 individuals.
Looking back over the past 30 years, what are you most proud of when it comes to The Barnett Group?
We are proud of the loyalty of our customers. We believe that when you put the needs of clients first, retention comes naturally. The Barnett Group maintains a retention rate of 98 percent, and we are very thankful for all of the clients who have been with us over the years.
And, we couldn’t maintain this rate without our committed team. We are a close-knit family working together to serve the best interests of our clients. Our team goes above and beyond to be the best in our industry, always working to achieve industry accolades, accreditations and special training. We wouldn’t be here, 30 years later, without their dedication.
How has the employee benefits industry changed since you founded the firm?
The industry has become more complicated, more sophisticated and even more customer driven particularly with regard to insurance. As time goes on, a company has to be willing to change and adapt to the market. Technology, for example, is always evolving and taking a larger role in our industry. At The Barnett Group, we don’t just try to change with the times, we anticipate those changes and stay ahead of them.
What is the main thing you want clients of The Barnett Group to know, as you celebrate 30 years in business and look ahead to the future?
We want both current and future clients to know that our focus will always remain on them. That means client goals, needs and budgets are our top priority. With our team, The Barnett Group offers incredible knowledge, solution-oriented resources and superior customer service. The employee benefits field has been and will continue to be a complicated system to navigate. Clients can count on us to be a constant in an ever-changing industry, whether for insurance or financial services. For many years, our motto has been “We’re here when you need us,” and that remains true today.
