Melissa

Melissa Smithmier, GBDS, is a partner and director of sales and marketing for The Barnett Group. In addition to her sales and marketing responsibilities, she also is responsible for group benefits planning at The Barnett Group. Smithmier is a board member of the Greater Memphis Employee Benefits Council, the Mid-South Medical Group Managers Association and a member of the Mid-South Association of Health Underwriters. She received her degree in health care management from Southern Illinois University. As president of the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce, Smithmier was given the Key to the City from the mayor of the City of Lakeland for revitalizing the dormant Chamber.

A native of Dickson, Tenn., she has two children, Jake and Kaley, and currently resides in Lakeland, Tenn. Smithmier enjoys supporting LeBonheur Children's Hosptial through her work with the LeBonheur Club, spending time with her family and friends, and cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels!   Additionally, as a Board member of the The Marguerite Piazza Gala, she supports St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
